The Amartithi: “To Live Eternally In The Hearts of All His Lovers”

Baba's Samadhi

“Since eternity! I never come and I never go. I am present everywhere. Isn’t it wonderful that I never leave?”

… Now, Eruch reminded Mani about it. “Where is the record, Begin The Beguine, and the gramophone?” he asked. “We have to take it with us to Meherabad.” Mani looked at him and thought he had gone mad. “How could he think of music at a time like this?!” Eruch explained, “Baba has told us that, at the end, when he drops his body, this song has to be played.”

Mani thought, where can it be? And then she remembered that it was handy. “I played it in Baba’s room, in the hall, in the cabin [on Meherabad Hill], and sometimes in the samadhi ~ all together at least seven times [as per Baba’s instructions] .”

… Eruch wanted Mani to take a few feet of film also, as Baba’s body was being taken to the hall. Mani again questioned, “How can Eruch think like this now, with Mehera in her condition and Baba gone? Films? At a time like this? Poor Eruch, he’s gone off the deep end*.”

… The telegram sent from Adi’s office to all centers and lovers throughout the world read:

AVATAR MEHER BABA DROPPED HIS PHYSICAL BODY AT TWELVE NOON 3 1 IANUARY

TO LIVE ETERNALLY IN THE HEARTS OF ALL HIS LOVERS.

–“Mehera Meher”, p485
